I love a cute headband - I really do. But I love a specific kind of cute headband: not too pinchy, not too thick, not too wide, not too "much", not too tight... you get the idea. Much like Goldilocks and her desire for the perfect place on which to rest her pretty, little head, if I wear a headband I want it to be just right. Believe you me, a cute headband that's "just right" is hard to find - a knitted, cute headband that's just right is even harder. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands, get creative, and this was the result:
... and this...
Simple, thin/narrow, and just enough knitted lovliness to be interesting without being overbearing. It's also a breeze to make. Truly! All you need is a basic, thin headband (The one shown below came in a pack of three. You can find them at Walgreen's, Target, Duane Reade, etc.), some yarn, a couple of double-pointed needles, a tapestry needle, and a hot glue gun...
This just might be the easiest and surprisingly novel idea I've had in a long time. (Smile.) Naturally, I had to share it with you... Enjoy!
Easy Breezy Knitted Headband
Post Script: I've also knit a variation on this using elastic - making one of those stretchy, circular headbands that really stay put, but it's a bit more tricky. However, I may post that in the nearish future... that is, if I can find time between putting up coats of paint, unpacking a gazillion vintage dishes, and various other "nesting"activities.
